Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) is a portable operating system that routes all internet traffic through Tor, leaves no trace on the host computer, and uses strong cryptographic tools by default. For darknet market users who are serious about anonymity, Tails represents the gold standard of operational security — this guide explains how to use it correctly.
Tails addresses a fundamental security problem: even if you use Tor Browser on your regular operating system, that OS may have malware, logging software, or forensic artifacts (browsing history, DNS caches, temporary files) that can expose your activity. Tails solves this by running entirely from RAM. When you power off, the RAM is cleared, leaving no forensic evidence on the machine. This is why it is described as "amnesic."
TorZon Market's own security recommendations specifically endorse Tails usage for users handling sensitive transactions. Our comprehensive OPSEC guide includes Tails in its top-tier tool recommendations.
Tails requires a USB drive of at least 8 GB (16 GB recommended for persistent storage). It runs on most computers manufactured after 2010 with at least 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended). You do not need to modify your existing operating system — Tails boots independently from the USB.
Step 1: Visit tails.boum.org and download the Tails ISO file. Verify the download using the included verification method (the Tails website provides a browser extension that automates this).
Step 2: Flash the ISO to your USB drive using BalenaEtcher or the Tails Installer for macOS/Linux. Do not use Windows'' built-in disk imaging tools — they are not compatible with Tails.
Step 3: Boot from the USB. Most computers require pressing F12, F2, or DEL during startup to access the boot menu. Select your USB drive from the list.
Step 4: Configure Tails. On first boot, Tails will walk you through optional persistent storage setup. Persistent storage lets you save specific files (PGP keys, bookmarks) across sessions — everything else remains amnesic. Enable an encrypted persistent volume using a strong passphrase.
Once booted, open Tor Browser (pre-installed) and navigate to the verified TorZon Onion address from our access page. Import your PGP keys from persistent storage. Always verify the TorZon Url against the PGP-signed link list before logging in. Do not access any clearnet sites that could link your identity to your Tails session.
